Scheme of Studies
Academic
Stream: The learning area will include.
a)
One of the following core languages to be offered by all
Students of I.A., I.Sc., I.Com as a compulsory subject.
English/Hindi A (for Hindi Students)/Hindi
‘B’ (for Non-Hindi students) and Mother tongue each carrying 45%
marks (Mother tongue include Bengali, Urdu or Alternative
English) candidates whose Mother tongue is English may offer
alternative English of 50% marks.
Such candidates offering Hindi-‘B’ and Mother
tongue carrying 45% marks each may offer any language as an
elective subject in the Arts faculty or, an additional subject
in Science/Commerce faculty.
b)
One of the following elective languages to be offered by
all students of I.A.
Hindi,
English, Bengali, Urdu, Sanskrit, Khortha
Note
i)
Out of the languages, one shall have English or Hindi,
Both English and Hindi can also be offered simultaneously.
ii)
The language may be offered either at core/elective
level. The same language i.e., English or, Hindi ‘A’ however
cannot be offered both at core level and elective level.
iii)
An I.A. candidate has the freedom to offer, in lieu of
one of the two languages above, any other elective subject
provided under three below.

A.
BACHELOR OF ARTS (General/Honours)
1. Duration: 3 academic years
consisting of three parts I, II & III
2. Qualification of admission
A Student who
has passed the intermediate or +2 examination or equivalent exam
of a Board/ University from any recognized institution is
eligible for admission to B.A. (General/Honours) part I courses
keeping in the view of following provisions.
a)
For offering ‘Honours’ in a subject the student must have
obtained at least 45% marks in the subject concerned or in all
allied subject at intermediate level.
b)
A student of Science/Commerce who desires to change his
faculty and wants to pursue B.A. Part-I (Hons.) course can do so
only if he/she has obtained not less than 45% marks in
aggregate.
c)
A Student of Science/Commerce who desires to change the
faculty and wants to pursue B.A. (General) part-I course can do
so only if he/she has obtained not less than 45% marks in
aggregate.

B.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (General/Honours)
1. Duration: 3 academic years
consisting of three parts I, II & III
2. Qualification of admission
For admission
to the B.Sc. (Hons.) course, it is necessary for a student to
secure 45% marks at intermediate or +2 level equivalent
examinations (Board/Council) in the subject offered for honours
study or, in an allied subject as determined by the university
Academic council in case the subject was not prescribed for
study at the intermediate level. In such case a student must
have passed intermediate Board/council or, any equivalent
examination with an aggregate of 45% marks.
A candidate shall not choose
i)
Mathematics unless he/she has passed I.Sc examination or
equivalent in, Mathematics, Physics and chemistry.
ii)
Physics unless he/she has passed the I.Sc. examination
or, equivalent in Physics in chemistry and physics with
mathematics or, equivalent in chemistry and physics with
mathematics or, Biology and
iii)
Botany/Zoology unless he/she has passed chemistry,
Physics and Biology. Moreover, the student should be declared
passed by the respective Board/Council.
SUBJECT TAUGHT
A Candidate for B.Sc. (Hons.) shall choose
one ‘Honours’ subject and two subsidiary subjects from the
following groups.
i)
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
ii)
Botany, Zoology, chemistry
Besides the above choice, a candidate has to
choose either (a) or (b) for languages in part I & Part II
(a)
Hindi (Mil) (b) Non-Hindi as compulsory subject.
C.
BACHELOR OF COMMERCE(General/Honours)
1. Duration: 3 academic years
consisting of three parts I, II & III
2. Qualification of admission
A Student who
has passed the intermediate exam. In commerce of a
Board/University or, from any recognized institution is eligible
for admission to B.Com (General/Hons.) Part-I courses keeping in
the view of following provisions.
a)
For offering Hons. Degree the student must have obtained
not lessthan 45% marks at the intermediate commerce examination
in aggregate of commerce papers and commerce subject in case of
CBSE and ICSE examinations a candidate must have secured
aggregate of 45% in commerce papers at +2 level examinations.
b)
A student of Science/Arts who desires to change his
faculty and wants to pursue B.Com (Hons.) course can do so only
if he/she has obtained not less than 45% marks in aggregate at
I.Sc./I.A. examinations.
c)
A Student who has obtained 45% marks in aggregate at I.Sc,
I.A. examinations may be admitted for B.Com (General) course. A
candidate has also to choose Hindi or, Non-Hindi in part-I and
Part-II as compulsory subject. |
